Director of the Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Cannabinoid Research
David Meiri is an associate professor at Technion College of Biology and a member of the Technion Integrated Cancer Center (TICC). Dr. Meiri holds a master’s degree in biochemistry and a doctorate in plant biotechnology from Tel Aviv University. David Meiri investigated, under his postdoctoral fellowship, the invasion and metastasis of tumors at the Ontario Cancer Institute.
During his postdoctoral studies, he expanded his knowledge in human biology and cancer pathogenesis and gained worldwide recognition as a specialist in the fields of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), small GTPases and cytoskeleton. Upon completion of his postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Meiri took a position at the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, where he heads the “Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Cannabinoid Research.”
His laboratory is currently investigating the therapeutic potential of phytocannabinoids, focusing on their antitumor effects. In addition to laboratory cannabis research, Dr. Meiri collaborates with medical cannabis producers, clinicians, major manufacturers and distributors to revolutionize treatments. He is responsible for the Cannabis Database Project and his laboratory is currently involved in eight clinical trials covering various aspects of cannabis treatment in colon disorders, pain prevention, cancer treatment and epilepsy.
